The course being offered is for beginning/novice women shooters. In recent years, many women have opted to obtain their CCW or have purchased a handgun for home and personal defense. A good first step! Now, however, you have the additional responsibility to learn how to use it safely, competently and effectively.

This class will focus on the safe handling of a handgun, developing proper shooting technique and the accurate and effective use of a pistol in a self-defensive situation. This program emphasizes grip, sight picture, and trigger control through specific exercises to a maximum distance of 10 yards. Most defensive situations occur at distances of 2 to 4 yards so we include a section on eye/hand coordinated shooting at short range.

The Academy’s instructional technique begins with single shots on single targets and leads to multiple shots on multiple targets.

The program is structured to minimize classroom time and focuses on practical hands-on and individual range instruction. A brief on-range lecture and demonstration introduces each section. At the conclusion of the demonstrations, students then perform practical range exercises with as much individual instruction as possible.

Class size is kept small to facilitate a high degree of quality, personalized and one on one instruction to insure a full understanding of the principles being taught.

This is a one-day class. Hours are: 8:00am to 5:00pm. There will be periodic breaks and a 60 minute lunchtime. It will be a closed range session. Husbands, boyfriends and children will not be allowed on the property during class hours.
